Delivery Driver Policy

 

Purpose: This policy outlines the rules and regulations that delivery food drivers are expected to adhere to when they are hired by “The Merchant”. It aims to ensure professionalism, safety, and efficiency in all delivery operations.

1. Driver Qualifications and Requirements:

- All drivers must possess a valid driver's license issued by the appropriate authorities in their respective jurisdictions.

- Drivers must maintain a clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents within the last three years.

- Drivers must have their own reliable mode of transportation (car, motorcycle, bicycle, etc.) and valid insurance coverage.

2. Vehicle Standards:

- Vehicles used for delivery must be well-maintained, clean, and in good working condition.

- Drivers are responsible for ensuring that their vehicles meet all safety and regulatory requirements, including valid registration and inspection.

3. Compliance with Traffic Laws:

- Drivers must adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating their vehicles.

- Speeding, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and other unsafe driving practices are strictly prohibited.

4. Professionalism and Customer Service:

- Drivers must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while representing “The Merchant”.

- Courteous and respectful behavior towards customers, fellow drivers, and other individuals encountered during deliveries is expected.

- Drivers must handle food orders with care to ensure that they reach customers in the same condition as when they left the restaurant.

5. Food Safety and Hygiene:

- Drivers must adhere to food safety and hygiene standards when handling and delivering food orders.

- Proper packaging, handling, and transportation practices must be followed to prevent contamination or spoilage of food items.6. Delivery Protocols:

- Drivers are expected to follow the designated delivery routes provided by the dispatch system or management.

- Timely delivery of orders is crucial, and drivers should strive to meet or exceed delivery time expectations.

- In case of delays or unforeseen circumstances, drivers must communicate promptly with both customers and the dispatch team.

6. Reporting and Documentation:

- Any accidents, incidents, or issues encountered during deliveries must be reported to the appropriate authorities and “The Merchant” management immediately.

- Drivers must maintain accurate records of their deliveries, including mileage, time logs, and any relevant documentation required by the company.

7. Confidentiality and Security:

- Drivers must respect the privacy and confidentiality of customer information and orders.

- Any sensitive or confidential information obtained during deliveries must be handled with discretion and not shared with unauthorized individuals.

8. Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity:
